SERVICE PROJECT: Collect School Supplies for the Fort Peck Native American Reservation

Shanahan & Voigt, LLC is proud to support Love Has No Color’s (LHNC) Fill A Backpack Fundraiser.  LHNC is a charitable organization run by volunteers dedicated to helping impoverished Native American children. LHNC has formed partnerships with the Assiniboine/Sioux tribes with the aim to combat the poverty and “hopelessness” affecting so many of the residents of the Fort Peck Reservation in Montana.

According to their website, LHNC does “not simply hand out gifts and money to the Reservation.” Instead, they “enhance and brighten the futures of each and every child … with hope, self-esteem building activities and many other tools so they understand there is life beyond the reservation” (, 2015).

Fort Peck can certainly use the help.  The Reservation suffers from an unemployment rate of more than 50%, widespread drug abuse issues, and a crushing economic situation where “three of every four children live in poverty,” reports Lyndsey Layton of The Washington Post (, 2013).

You can help the children of the Fort Peck reservation in their pursuit of an education by filling backpacks with school supplies. Some supplies that LHNC suggests are backpacks, calculators, colored pencils, crayons, erasers, folders, markers, pencils, pencil cases, pencil sharpeners, pens, rulers, glue sticks, hand sanitizers, highlighters, scissors, spiral notebook, and tape.

Shanahan & Voigt, LLC is helping Gardner Family Chiropractic collect school supplies by serving as an additional drop-off location. School supplies may be dropped off Monday through Friday between 9:00am and 5:00pm until July 28th, 2017 at:
